Highlights of April 17 Meeting
Submitted by Mark Romer on May 11, 2006 - 12:42pm.
- Officers present were: Grand Knight, Deputy Grand Knight, Financial Secretary, Warden, Inside Guard.
- Total members present: 15.
- Kenneth Krog has agreed to serve as the Deputy Grand Knight and Membership Chairman. Kenneth was elected to the DGK position by unanimous vote.
- Membership Drive - We received from Holy Rosary a list of people who have joined the parish in the past two years. Adam is sending invitations to 68 men on that list. We will follow up with phone calls, inviting them to come by our info table at the upcoming parish breakfast and to come to a pot luck dinner that we'll have before the May meeting.
- Eric Crowley has taken his First Degree and has joined council 8826 for now.
- The council voted to not charge dues to Patrick Gallagher, our seminarian.
- MR Drive - Our last fund drive raised $1,500 for the MR Foundation. We are able to direct the use of $750 of that. George Oswald suggested $250 each to Madonna Learning Center (MLC), United Cerebral Palsy (UCP), and Martha's Manor. Mike Drew suggested that, since we helped UCP get a fairly large grant this year, we direct $500 to MLC and $250 to Martha's Manor.
- Peter McCann's car has died, and he is in need of another one to use.
- The bill to strengthen pro-life language in the Tennessee Constitution has died in the State House of Representatives.
- The Saturday morning Pro-Life prayer group is looking for more people to join them.
- One of the bus bench ads from Union Mission has been defaced. John Haas spent some time cleaning it up, and he is awaiting word from Fr. Cortese about filing charges against the likely perpetrators.
- Madonna Learning Center's Field Day will be May 6. The council approved $100 to be used providing hot dogs, chips, and drinks for the kids.
- Field Agent Report - Our council is currently holding even on our membership for the Fraternal Year (our quota is 8 new members). We are up 2 in our insurance membership (quota is 4).
