Mark Romer's picture

Ed Harley passed away on Tuesday, May 15. Edgar was a long-time Financial Secretary of our council, and was a member of the KofC for 61 years. Cantankerous though he could sometimes be, Ed was also a good friend to many of us.

Visitation

Visitation will be Wednesday, May 16 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A Rosary is scheduled for 6:30. Visitation is at Family Funeral Care, 4925 Summer Avenue (click here for map).

Funeral

Edgar's funeral will be Thursday, May 17 at 11:00 AM at St. Michael Church, 3867 Summer Avenue (click here for map).

Honor Guards

Edgar requested that there be a Fourth Degree honor guard at the funeral, but not at the visitation. Please contact Elmer Scheidhauer (867-2236) if you need more information.

Considering the short

Considering the short notice, the funeral was pretty well-attended. I saw at least four other guys from our council, and there was a seven-man Fourth Degree honor guard.

Fr. Victor and Fr. Hood concelebrated. Fr. Hood was the spiritual director for the St. Vincent de Paul Society when Ed was active in it. They both showed an obvious respect for Ed and Margaret. Fr. Victor's homily mentioned the Harleys as a couple who put their heart and soul into St. Michael's.

It's a shame there weren't more people there, but I'm amazed at how quickly the funeral was held after Edgar's passing.
