For the Repose of the Soul of Robert G. Schaedle

Robert Schaedle, a Past Grand Knight of our council, passed away on August 13 and his funeral was August 15. Below is the text of his obituary in the Commercial Appeal. Please pray for Bob's eternal rest, and pray for Clare and the rest of Bob's family as they mourn their loss.
Robert George Schaedle, Jr., passed away peacefully August 13, 2009. He was born April 4, 1928. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Clare Raney Schaedle, whom he dearly loved, his children, also much beloved, Robert (Rob) G. Schaedle. III, Susan C. Schaedle, Catherine S. Pohlman and her husband Mike Pohlman, and Stephen C. Schaedle, his grandchildren, Scott Schaedle, Ben Schaedle, Will Schaedle, Anna Mary Schaedle, Virginia Schaedle, Carter Glenn, Matthew Pohlman, Katie Pohlman, Clare Pohlman, and Maggie Pohlman. He was a native Memphian. Bob was the light of our lives who taught us by example what it means to live a faith driven life of love and service to others. Bob served in the United States Army as a First Lieutenant during the Korean War. He attended The University of Tennessee and graduated from the University of Wisconsin School of Banking, where he also taught Bank Administration in summer sessions. He was a Certified Administrative Manager designated by the Administrative Management Society, which organization he served as local President. He retired as Vice President and Cashier of First Tennessee Bank after 30 years of service. After retirement, he became Executive Vice President and Board Member of Temporary Talent, Inc. temporary services, where he served for another 12 years. He was a member of, and served as Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council 4312. He was also a member of the East Memphis Catholic Club where he served multiple terms as president. He was a 40+ year member of the Serra Club of Memphis and served as its President. He was active in the Catholic Church having served as the chairman of finance councils and member of the Parish Council for both Holy Rosary and Immaculate Conception Churches. He served as Board member for 14 years and multiple times as President of Immaculate Conception High School Board. He was a member of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem, a Catholic Order that is part of the Pope’s Household. He and his wife, Clare, visited most of Europe and made multiple trips to Italy and Rome which they especially enjoyed. They also made a Pilgrimage to the Holy Land and saw the places revered by the presence of Jesus. God has been good to him and his family. Visitation will be Friday, August 14, 2009 from 7:00 p.m. 9:00 p.m. at The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception Church, 1695 Central, with a Rosary being said at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 15, 2009 at The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to The Monastery of St. Clare, St. Vincent de Paul Society at The Cathedral, The Church Health Center, or the charity of the donor’s choice.
